Outdoor Living, Reimagined.
A collaborative exploration of cooking, gathering and entertaining outdoors.
What if an outdoor kitchen was designed not simply around the equipment, but around the people using it?
Developed by Deadhead Studio, Blunt Axe Design and Anvil Design & Fabrication, these concepts bring together spatial design, bespoke timberwork and specialist metal fabrication.
Three concepts. Each a starting point for something individual. A shared material language.
TIMBER · STEEL · FIRE
One Piece. One Social Centre.
Put cooking at the heart of the gathering.
Instead of separating the person cooking from everyone else, this concept places the grill at the centre of the experience.
A generous circular surface wraps around the cooking area, creating space to eat, drink, prepare and talk. Integrated planting brings fresh herbs within reach, while a dedicated drinks zone keeps bottles and ice close at hand.
Less conventional outdoor kitchen. More social furniture built around fire and food.
Three Zones. One Statement Piece.
Cook. Gather. Entertain.
A sculptural three-part arrangement designed around three distinct ways of using the space.
The bar zone creates an informal place to sit, drink and talk. At its centre, the cooking zone houses the Monolith grill with generous preparation space around it. The third gathering zone extends the kitchen beyond cooking, creating a natural place to serve, share and dine.
Although each zone has its own purpose, together they read as a single piece of outdoor furniture.
Three Units. One Statement Piece.
Modular by design. Individual by nature.
Rather than creating one permanent structure, this concept breaks the outdoor kitchen into three distinct pieces: bar, grill and gathering.
Each can be positioned according to the garden, terrace or occasion, allowing the composition to change while retaining a common language of timber, steel, proportion and finish.
It is outdoor furniture rather than fitted cabinetry — designed to belong in the landscape rather than simply sit against a wall.
Three disciplines. One idea.
DEADHEAD STUDIO, Concept & spatial design
BLUNT AXE DESIGN, Timber, joinery & making
ANVIL DESIGN & FABRICATION, Metalwork & specialist fabrication
Bringing these disciplines together allows a concept to be considered as a complete piece — from its relationship with the space around it through to the timber detailing, structure, fabrication, finish and installation.
Could this become your outdoor space?
These concepts are starting points, not prescribed solutions.
A commissioned design would be developed around your space, how you cook, how you entertain and the equipment you want to use.
Dimensions, configuration, timber, metalwork, finishes, storage and functionality can all evolve as part of the process.
The Monolith grill inspired these first concepts, but the same approach can be developed around other grills, pizza ovens, refrigeration, sinks and outdoor cooking equipment.
Every Exceptional Piece Begins with a Conversation
The designs shown are concept visualisations created to explore the possibilities of bespoke outdoor kitchen design.
Final design, dimensions, materials, engineering and specification would be developed individually for each commissioned project.
